Getting started on the right foot with your new family member's health is important. Puppies and kittens need to see their veterinarians for wellness care pretty frequently. Both puppies and kittens require several rounds of vaccinations, regular deworming, and frequent examination to screen for health issues.

Puppy Care

Puppies should visit their veterinarian every 3-4 weeks beginning at 6 weeks of age. Vaccination for Canine Distemper and Canine Parvo Virus should be administered by a veterinarian at approximately 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks of age. Rabies vaccination is required by law for all puppies at 12 weeks of age. Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination is administered between 12 and 16 weeks of age. All puppies should have at least 2 negative fecal parasite tests before regular deworming is considered complete. Finally, all puppies should start on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives as soon as their age and weight allows. Our doctors will thoroughly examine your pet for signs of illness, vaccinate your pet if appropriate, and make specific deworming and parasite prevention recommendations on an individual bases. We even have free samples and a special goody bag for our puppy patients!

Kitten Care

Kittens should also visit their veterinarians every 3-4 weeks beginning at 6 weeks of age. Vaccination for the feline upper respiratory complex should be given at approximately 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 12 weeks, and 16 weeks of age. Rabies vaccination is required by law for all kittens at 12 weeks of age. All kittens should have at least 2 negative fecal parasite tests before regular deworming is considered complete. At 9 weeks of age or older, kittens should be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (retroviruses that affect the immune system and are contagious to other cats). Finally, all kittens should start on flea, heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention as soon as their age and weight allows. Our doctors will thoroughly examine your pet for signs of illness, vaccinate your pet if appropriate, and make specific deworming and parasite prevention recommendations on an individual basis. We have free samples and a goody bag for kittens too!

New patients welcome!
