Sheri Fastenrath, DVM

Owner of Animal Medical Clinic and a general practitioner, Dr. Sheri Fastenrath grew up in Huntsville and began working at the hospital in 1982 in the kennel. Dr. Fastenrath returned to the hospital as a veterinarian in 1990 and purchased the practice in 1993.

Having received her Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology in 1987 from Auburn University, Dr. Fastenrath continued her education at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.

Dr. Fastenrath's professional interests include internal medicine, ultrasonography and wellness care. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association, the Huntsville Obedience Training Club and the German Shorthaired Club of America. She is also a founder and stockholder of the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama and has served as president of the board from 1993 to 2004.

Dr. Fastenrath has received numerous awards and honors, including the Veterinary Service Award from the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association in 1999 and the Bravehart Award from The Ark, a local rescue group, in 2001. She served as vice-president of the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association from 1996-1997 and as president from 1998-1999.

Dr. Fastenrath and her husband, Thomas A. Turner III, share their home with two German shorthaired pointers, Boomer and Buzz, and a cat named Taz. She participates in dog sports, including agility, flyball, obedience, rally and confirmation, with her two dogs. Dr. Fastenrath's hobbies include ballroom dancing and watching college football.

Angela Concannon, DVM

Angela Concannon, DVM

Associate veterinarian Angela Concannon has cared for pets at Animal Medical Clinic since 2001. She grew up in Natchez, Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University, where she studied Animal and Dairy Science. She went on to attend Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.

Soft-tissue surgery and dentistry are among her many professional interests. Dr. Concannon is pursuing board-certification in dentistry and can perform numerous dental procedures including root planing, tooth removal and many other complex periodontal treatments. She is also exploring options for training in root canal and vital pulpotomy therapy.

Dr. Concannon is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Dental Society. She is the vice-president of the Madison County Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Concannon is also a stockholder at the Animal Emergency Clinic of North Alabama.

When she's not busy with her duties at the hospital, Dr. Concannon enjoys gardening, scrapbooking, baking, home improvement, shopping, watching movies and going to Disneyworld whenever possible. She is a member of University Baptist Church and is an active member of the Hunt's Spring Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Dr. Concannon and her husband are the proud parents of two children. Their four-legged family members include cats Annie and George and a Lab named Maggie.
